Colton Groome Remains Community Minded
2019 was a year for enhanced community involvement. We had so many requests for community support we initiated new support guidelines. Effective in 2019, community support became client- and employee-driven. This was done in an initiative to consolidate support to select organizations that have directly impacted our close-knit community.
This consolidated support was also the start of a new Colton Groome Tradition! As you may know, our management team has been building the Colton Groome Community Support Fund for several years with the guidance of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. Colton Groome contributes 10% of profits to the Community Support Fund. Effective in 2019, Colton Groome management made the decision to create an employee-driven community donation program. The Colton Groome team members were asked to meet, discuss possible non-profits for donations, and organize the distribution of allocated funds. Erick Robinson was selected as our Community Support Team Leader and organized the entire project from start to finish.
Community Support Fund: Who did Colton Groome Support in 2019?
In January 2019, and December 2019, Colton Groome employees nominated the following organizations for donations:
- Homeward Bound,
- ABCCM Steadfast House,
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC,
- and the St. Gerard House.
The Colton Groome Team was so excited to come together for this project. In addition to this support plan, we are proud to say 100% of our Colton Groome employees participate in the annual giving campaign to United Way of Asheville Buncombe County.
Other Community Support Campaigns in 2019 were directed to:
The Walnut Cove Members Association Weekend of Giving –This single-weekend event at The Cliffs of Walnut Cove, raised more than $370,000 in local grants for non-profits such as Pisgah Legal Services, Mountain Child Advocacy Center, ARC of Buncombe County, and many others.
