Tate joined Colton Groome & Company in 2003. A Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Life Underwriter™, and Accredited Estate Planner® designee, Tate has more than fifteen years’ experience providing trusted life, disability and long term care insurance solutions to individuals, businesses, trustees, and advisors. Tate’s passion for life insurance manifests itself in his first authored book, “The Best Policy” which combines the personal, loving element behind each insurance policy with effective methods to monitor and manage the policy.
Tate was named by LifeHealthPro as one of the “Top 20 Most Creative People in Insurance” for 2015 and was a recipient of the North Carolina Volunteer Award chosen by the governor of North Carolina. He was most recently named by Forbes in 2021 as one of the nation’s Top Financial Security Professionals.
An Asheville High School and UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Tate is a true Asheville native. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and Spanish from UNC Chapel Hill in 2001. Prior to joining Colton Groome & Company, Tate taught elementary education for at-risk youth and coached basketball. Tate continues to coach basketball today, is a past member of the Top of the Table and Million Dollar Roundtable®; and has served on numerous community Boards.
He loves spending time hiking and traveling with his wife Anna and his three amazing children: Davis, Lillian and Evan.
