As the temperature cools and school buses resume their routes, Colton Groome would like to take a moment and review our incredible summer together. We are very thankful to those that participated in our exciting new Connection Events over the past few months. We are always eager to learn more about you, your personality, and your unique goals, so we can best serve you with individually-tailored financial strategies.
We kicked off summer with a Senior Services Lunch & Learn, hosted by Cynthia Watson, Founder of Certified Senior Move Managers of WNC. The event was a success, connecting senior services providers such as Seniors Helping Seniors, Mountain Home Care, and SimplyHome, to each other, as well as to those that may eventually need these specialized amenities.
Colton Groome leapt into sponsorship in June, for the Walnut Cove Members Association’s Weekend of Giving. We were actively involved in a program that raised nearly $175,000 in fundraising initiatives for local Western North Carolina charities and organizations. The event itself was an absolute blast! With a beautiful backdrop provided by The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, and thrilling events ranging from a Tennis and Golf Tournament, to a Flat Rock Playhouse production, there was never a dull moment. If you missed out this year, make sure you plan ahead for tickets next year by reaching out to Bob Irelan, WCMA organizer, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In July, we switched gears to teach our youngest connections how to #succeed in Personal Finance. Our class ranged in age from 14 to 24-years-old, from those just beginning high school, to a couple beginning their financial journey together. When Colton Groome read the FINRA statistic that 56% of US millennials could not cover a $1,000 emergency without going into debt or calling family for help, we wanted to raise awareness of the issue while educating others on building healthy financial habits. Matt and Tate Groome lectured on the following subjects: savings, debt, budgeting, how to interview, first job benefits, 401(k) facts, and initial investing terms. Our Colton Groome team was ecstatic to hear the student’s active engagement throughout the class as well as the positive reviews that followed.
August became unofficial Golf-Month, as Colton Groome & Company sponsored and attended the following events: The No Barriers Outdoor Classic, the Arby’s Child Advocacy Classic, and the UNC Asheville BAA Scholarship Golf Classic. Late in the month, Colton Groome hosted an intimate group for a Skeet & Meet outing at the Biltmore Sporting Clays Club.
