Colton Groome and Company is growing! As part of the process of becoming an independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), we registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in April of 2018. We have also added two new associates to better serve you!
We are excited to announce the arrival of our newest teammates, Kim Givens and Laura Greene. These professional women bring a wealth of knowledge, fresh perspective, and delightful personalities to our firm.
Kim Givens stepped into the Insurance Services Coordinator position in April 2018. She works directly with Tate on all insurance-related matters, including policy monitoring, new-account coordination, and provider communication. Kim is a graduate of UNC- Chapel Hill, and recently moved to the Asheville-area from Portland, Oregon. Kim relocated to Asheville as her husband, Luke Givens, was offered a position at UNC Asheville as the Director of Multicultural Affairs.
Kim previously worked with M Financial as an Operations Specialist, focusing on client administration and implementation. She has also been employed by Fidelity Investments and Vanguard in financial services and operations positions. Kim holds FINRA Series 24, 7, 65, and 63 licenses, as well as Health and Life Insurance licenses.
Prior to moving, Kim enjoyed volunteering with Oregon Food Bank. She is excited to get to know Asheville, and to try every local restaurant with her husband, Luke.
Laura Greene also joined Colton Groome in April of 2018, as the Client Experience Coordinator. When you come into the Colton Groome office, you will be greeted by her contagious smile and warm personality.
Laura is a Western North Carolina native from Waynesville. She graduated from Tuscola High School, gained an Associates degree from Southwestern Community College in Civil Engineering & Surveying Technology, and earned her BSBA from King University in Bristol, TN (previously King College).
While Laura previously worked as an Engineering Technician, and an Operations Manager of a local retail store, she has gained an interest in the financial world. After taking a Dave Ramsey course, and altering her entire perspective on personal financial management, she felt a strong desire to share her new knowledge with others, viewing this career change as a jump toward her dream field.
In Laura’s spare time, she enjoys volunteering with Mountain Projects (a Community Action Agency in Haywood and Jackson Counties), reading, and cooking extravagant meals with her husband, Michael, to bring family and friends together.
